Our Vision

VISION STATEMENT

We are a Spirit filled people passio
nate in worship, intentional in relationships, focused on the love of God, calling our world into personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION

In the sovereign wisdom of God, Warwick Assembly of God was established in the community of Warwick, New York during February of 1987. As an Assemblies of God church, we operate with the understanding that God’s purposes find fulfillment in a three-fold expression: (1) proclamation of the Good News of Jesus Christ, (2) true, biblical worship, and (3) an equipped body of believers.

PASSIONATE IN WORSHIP

As committed followers of Jesus Christ, we desire to be known as a people who are passionate in our worship of Almighty God. Reflecting upon Jesus’ statement that God is seeking those who will worship him "in Spirit and in truth", we believe that worship should be informed by the Word of God (the Bible) and motivated by the Holy Spirit. Thus, we encourage freedom while not compromising specific standards set forth in Scriptures. We maintain an atmosphere that fosters continual growth in contemporary and creative expressions of praise and worship.

INTENTIONAL IN RELATIONSHIPS

We believe that God’s purpose for the church is fulfilled through relationships. Jesus said that the greatest commandment is love – love for God, others, and oneself.

Intentional Fellowship – As recipients of God’s love, we model true Christian community to the world. Newcomers entering any of our services, gatherings, small groups, or other ministry events, immediately sense God’s love through us. While being sure to maintain biblical standards of morality, we affirm the diversity that God has created in the world. We affirm the dignity, value, and worth of every individual, recognizing the grace of God at work within them. Thus we actively engage the people of our ministry area with the gospel regardless of age, race, ethnicity, or culture. This engagement includes (but is not limited by) ministry to children, youth, young adults, adults, and seniors, as well as families, singles, and married individuals.

Intentional Discipleship –We are developing an intentional strategy to motivate people to become fully devoted, growing, and maturing disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe and affirm it to be God’s will that every believer has a role in the ministry of the body. With the conviction that the Bible is God’s Word and that true learning takes place in the context of healthy relationships, we are establishing a network of small groups to facilitate this process. These groups are a vehicle for communicating the gospel, learning the scriptures, building community, and sharing God’s love.

FOCUSED ON THE LOVE OF GOD

The love of God compels us to look beyond ourselves and to share that love through word and action.

Spiritual Need – We are convinced that every person has the right to a presentation of the gospel at his or her level of understanding. We understand that our ministry context is the Warwick Valley and its surrounding area, thus we will clearly communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ to ALL. We present this message in a sensitive and relevant manner utilizing any and all means to bring people to a saving knowledge of Christ. We empower our people to communicate Christ through significant relationships with God, the churched, and the unchurched. We seek to support both church and para-church ministries within our community which are actively pursuing these same purposes.

Social Need – We support and develop ministries to meet the variety of needs represented throughout the surrounding communities in line with Jesus’ admonition. Reflecting the growing ethnic mosaic of our community, we openly embrace all that are seeking God in their lives.

Global Mission – We further recognize that truly, in the heart of God, the whole world is our mission. We enthusiastically support our Assemblies of God missionaries who labor for the gospel both in this country and in distant localities. We engage ourselves with this task through prayer, study, finances, and personal involvement. We actively pray that God would send out missionaries from our midst. With the leading of the Holy Spirit and within our means, we prayerfully and financially support them and every missionary who comes to us. Our desire is that the Kingdom of God is manifest and that the church of Jesus Christ is growing for God’s glory.
